Qualifications

PJ holds the Securities Industry Diploma from the London Stock Exchange in Fund Management, Investment Analysis, and Private Client Investment Advice, as well as an MBA from one of the top business schools in the UK - Cranfield School of Management.

Industry Experience

PJ’s industry experience is extensive. He has covered both Western and Asian markets as a fund manager and as a highly ranked investment analyst.

After completing his MBA at Cranfield School of Management (UK) in 1989, PJ joined Hermes Fund Management (the biggest pension fund in the UK) as a fund manager on the Small Company team. By the time he left this position in 1995, the UK Small Companies fund was valued at GBP400m. He left Hermes to join Smith New Court (later Merrill Lynch) as their Hong Kong Small Cap analyst in 1995, and from there he went to Jardine Fleming (later JP Morgan) in Hong Kong to be head of their  Asian Small Cap team. This team was three times voted number 1 in Asia by the influential Institutional Investor magazine. In 2001 he moved to New Zealand, from where he continued to fill this role until January 2003. In 2003/04, he taught Applied Investing as a Visiting Lecturer to the final year Commerce students at Otago University. In 2005, he returned to Asia to head up Macquarie’s new Asia Regional Small Cap team in Hong Kong. During his 15 months there, the team was ranked no 2 with Asian, US and European clients. At the end of 2006, he left Macquarie to become a partner in a new investment firm based in Singapore, investing in Korean Small Cap companies.

He has always managed his own investment portfolio, and for five years (2001-2006) managed a small private client fund which was invested in value plays across the world.
